Progress Comes in Stages

After I connected the LCD to my mididbox core module I immediately had problems. After searching the forums I found the answer, I had the LCD set up to use 8 bit mode when I should have been using 4 bit mode. Simple enough. I deslodered connections B0 – B3, and my LCD worked. Wunderbar! Now I just need to figure out how to generate a .hex file from my modified .asm file so I can use all 4 lines on the LCD instead of 2 and I’ll be in bbusiness. Not a big deal for the moment hough, the synth will still be totally usable with only 2 lines for now.

This morning, I also completed the first Sid module. I haven’t connected it or done any tests on it yet, but I’m totally confident that it will work 100% once I do however. I’ll proably finish the second Sid module tonight as well. No use waiting since my additional Sid arrived in the mail yesterday. A quick trip to radioshack for some IC sockets that I forgot to order from mouser and some 1/4″ jacks and I’ll be able to have sound and some memory to store synth patches. Stuff everything into a shoebox and it’ll be time to start planning the control surface.
